VIDEO | Ravindra Jadeja at it again as Virat Kohli rues trusting his spinner on DRS call

When Sir Jadeja is sure about something, you make sure that that has been supported by two more people at least, otherwise, simply move on and don’t believe it. Virat Kohli today left to rue for not remembering this theory as a terrible DRS call left him and the entire team embarrassed.

It was Mohammed Shami yesterday and Ravindra Jadeja today. It seems like the Indian skipper is in a position where he has to decline all DRS appeals by his bowlers unless and until he is 100% convinced about the same. Kohli seemed very irritated yesterday after he saw the ball missing the stumps approximately by three to four inches and asked his bowler to pull up his socks, but what happened today morning, just made one thing clear that players hardly learnt anything from the instance.

To exploit the cracks off the surface, Kohli resorted to Jadeja in the 6th over of the innings. However, he didn’t have the best of the starts as Usman Khawaja hit a lofted off-drive to get going against him. The Saurashtra bowler then immediately brought a slight change in angle to befuddle the batsmen.

On the last delivery of the same over, he bowled a wide outside the off-stump delivery and due to the bounce on offer, it spat from a length to which Khawaja wanted to play down the track. However, the change in the line of the ball meant Khawaja failed to counter the ball and it then lobbed off the pads before finding Ajinkya Rahane at slip.

Jadeja thought he had extracted an edge and appealed loudly for the wicket, but the umpire turned it down. However, the left-arm spinner seemed to have made up his mind to go upstairs immediately and convinced Kohli that he was sure about the edge. The Indian skipper immediately obliged him and asked the umpire to review it.

But, when Kohli saw the replay on the big screen, he lost his cool once again. HotSpot and RTS confirmed that the ball actually went straight off the pads and then lobbed to slip. There was a daylight difference between the bat and ball. Kohli was seen sitting with utter frustration and uttering some words, probably making his mind not to trust Jadeja’s word on DRS again.
