This Indian bowling attack can take 20 wickets in every Test, believes Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid is of the opinion that the current Indian bowling attack has the ability to pick up 20 wickets in each and every Test match it plays. The former skipper also stated that at the moment the bench strength in pace bowling is quite strong as well for the Indian national team.
As the Indian pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami wreaked havoc against the Aussies in the Boxing Day Test, Rahul Dravid was all praise for the Indian bowling attack. The troika created history by picking up 133 Test wickets in a calendar year as they got past the legendary West Indian trio of Joel Garner, Michael Holding and Malcolm Marshall who had 130 to their name. The pacers claimed 15 wickets among themselves in the Boxing Day Test which concluded today at the MCG.
"It is fantastic to see the kind of bowling we've been doing. We've consistently been taking 20 wickets, and we look like taking 20 wickets in every Test," Dravid told PTI.
"When you start a Test knowing your bowling attack can take 20 wickets, it gives you a huge fillip. At the moment, we've got four or five guys (fast bowlers). The bench strength in the fast bowling department is pretty good."
Batting at the crucial No. 3 position, Saurashtra batsman Cheteshwar Pujara batted with a lot of composure in the first innings of the third Test and struck his 17th Test ton. One of the finest batsmen at that position Dravid hailed Pujara’s performance in the ongoing Test series Down Under in which the Indians are leading 2-1 at the moment with one Test to go.
"He(Pujara) has been brilliant in the series. If we go on to win tomorrow (Sunday). He, then, would've played two match-winning innings in two Test matches that India has won. I think it's terrific, the way he has come back after not being picked for the first Test match in England," the India A coach said.
