VIDEO | MS Dhoni effects 400th ODI dismissal behind the stumps in his own inimitable style
For MS Dhoni, the wicket-keeping position is the best place in the world or at least, he has convinced the world of it. Today, he brought up his 400th ODI dismissal in his typical style by uprooting Aiden Markram’s stumps after the batsman was beaten by the flight and turn of a Kuldeep Yadav ball.
The Indian wrist-spinners have already done enough to lay down a marker in the world cricket for the need of wrist-spinners and for that, they have a certain MS Dhoni to thank for reducing their effort by almost 50%. After Markram, in the company of JP Duminy, seemed to build a partnership in their run-chase of 303, Yuzvendra Chahal started building pressure and that resulted in Kuldeep Yadav latching onto the opportunity in his very first over.
On the second ball of the 17th over, Kuldeep drifted the ball in the air which drew Markram out of his crease. However, the South African skipper was unable to keep the ball check and was beaten by flight and turn. With Dhoni standing close to the stumps, it was only a matter of nanoseconds before the former skipper dislodged the bails from the grooves even before Markram could regain his momentum.
However, the typical Dhoni dismissal had all the ingredients to make the people stand up from their seats, it became extra special for MS Dhoni as it was his 400th ODI dismissal behind the stumps and 770th international dismissal as a keeper.
