An unfortunate South Africa Women side saw their early batting effort and a chance to equalize series go in vain as prolonged rain forced the 4th T20I to be abandoned in the hosts' innings. The Proteas were sitting on a strong 130/3 in 15.3 overs, with Lizelle Lee at 58, when the rain interrupted.

Lee and Van Niekerk give Proteas a solid start

South Africa Women looked to have regained the lost confidence after a strong win in Johannesburg last T20I, which was reflected in Lizelle Lee and skipper Dane van Niekerk’s composed start in the first innings. Though Pooja Vastrakar and Rumeli Dhar started off well with their impeccable line and lengths to limit the hosts to just 10 runs in the first two overs of the powerplay, the duo started their stroke plays once they soon. And within the next five overs, South Africa were 52/0 even India Women realized with both the batsmen ensuring at least one boundary every over. As the overs progressed, Lee took on the role of the aggressor with as South Africa finished halfway on 73 for no loss.

The Rain Gods come to India's rescue in Centurian

In an attempt to spike the run rate, both van Niekerk and Lee welcomed Rajeshwari Gayakwad with two monstrous sixes in the eleventh over. However, when the skipper attempted the same against Deepti Sharma in the 13th over, she got caught by Dhar after hitting a boundary and six on the first two balls. It was followed by the instant departure of Chloe Tyron in the immediate over by Poonam Yadav, who had completely destroyed them last game. However, it didn’t stop Lee and Sune Luus from taking on the bowler as South Africa ended the 14th over at 118/2. Luus was dismissed the very next over after Lee brought up her fifty. However, the potential onslaught was interrupted by rain in the third ball of the 16th over, which eventually ended up abandoning the game.
