Salman Butt asks Pakistan selectors to be as consistent as their Indian counterparts

When it comes to backing the players during their bad run of form, the Indian team management has always been very accommodative and allowed the players to soak the pressure of the international cricket. Rohit Sharma has been the perfect example of that as despite having a disastrous first half in his career, he turned it around and is now the vice-captain of the limited-overs side. However, Pakistan has always approached the opposite way of picking the players and the selectors don’t give more chances if someone fails to prove themselves. 

“India shows more consistency in allowing their players to play top-level cricket,” Salman Butt told PTI.

“Rohit Sharma’s batting average was around 25 and 30 at one stage but the Indian selectors gave him consistent chances and today he has become a world-class performer.”  

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the premier first-class event of Pakistan, saw as many as 20 instances this year where teams were bowled out for less than 100 runs because of the pitches at different venues. Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal also condemned the state of the pitches by saying the inconsistent nature of pitches used in the first-class matches doesn’t help the cause for producing good batsmen at all.

“You need to have pitches in domestic cricket where batsmen can build their innings and stay for long. This is the only way to give them confidence and prepare them for international cricket,” Kamran said.
