England head coach Trevor Bayliss has hinted at the possibility of Adil Rashid being added to the Test squad in the series against India considering his performances in the limited-overs leg against India. Bayliss also added that Rashid may change his mind by taking inspiration from Jos Buttler.

If next to Kuldeep, there is a bowler who gave the opposition a run for their money, it has to be Adil Rashid. The leggie not only troubled Virat Kohli but got him out twice in three matches, with Rashid making sure that he was economical throughout. Considering the playing conditions in England at the moment and the way Rashid has been bowling, Bayliss mentioned that the leg-spinner could earn a Test call in the upcoming series against India if he changes his mind over red-ball cricket.

“There is a possibility of Rashid being included in the Test side. This year is probably the best I’ve seen him bowl. His control and consistency has been top-class. He will have to reconsider his decision on opting out of Test cricket. I am not sure whether the selectors had a chat with him or not,” said the Australian.

Talking about the inclusion of Rashid, the 55-year-old mentioned how Jos Buttler proved himself in the longest-format of the game after being successful in ODI and T20I cricket.

“Well, it’s already been proven this year (by Jos Buttler). So I’m sure he will be up for discussion,” added Bayliss.

The 30-year-old had last played a Test match in 2016 and has not featured in the squad since then. Post his 10th Test match for England, he took a decision to opt-out from red-ball cricket and might be included in the Test squad considering the fact that England are short of spinners.
