After Steve Smith was relinquished from his Rajasthan Royals’ captaincy role on Monday following his involvement in the ball tampering incident, now Sunrisers Hyderabad are looking at David Warner’s case as well. However, the IPL side will wait on Cricket Australia’s decision before going ahead.

Cricket Australia had asked both the players, Smith and Warner, to step down from their respective posts following Smith’s stunning confession a day before, about his involvement in the ball-tampering incident. And now with Warner’s participation in IPL increasingly clouded by Cricket Australia’s next course of action with him, SRH are looking at other options with the league starting in two weeks.

"It's very unfortunate what has happened in the Cape Town Test. As far as Sunrisers is concerned, it's too early for us to comment. Because, it was, just which has happened day before yesterday. We will wait for decision of Cricket Australia," SRH mentor Laxman told PTI in an interview.

Laxman further stressed that the board is far from coming at a concrete decision with the little information they have, and they would be ready to make the change if the need arises.

"The information available at the moment is very limited. So, we will wait for further information. If at all, the need be, then we will discuss about that. As far as Warner is concerned, he has been an exceptional leader for Sunrisers group," Laxman added.

Like many other sides, SRH had decided to retain their core players like Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The squad has more leadership materials and New Zealand skipper Williamson could take Warner’s place.

“Williamson is a leader within the group and he is a fantastic player who keeps improving in every aspect of his game,” Laxman said.
