IPL 2018| Shikhar Dhawan looks to find his lost form in match against Delhi at home

Shikhar Dhawan came into IPL in terrific form following his heroics against the Proteas that helped India win the series 5-1. However, after extending his form in the first couple of encounters in the absence David Warner, his elbow injury brought an end to it. Since returning, he has looked nothing more than ordinary and now with the playoffs coming up, he has to get back his form.

The southpaw has just managed to score 198 runs in nine matches, averaging around 28. The numbers would have been worst had his unbeaten 78 been not there in the first match. On Thursday, he will return to the Feroz Shah Kotla, his home ground in Delhi where he would want to get back his form against Delhi Daredevils.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the match against Delhi Daredevils, SRH coach Tom Moody has denied that Shikhar Dhawan is out of form stating that it is just a matter of time before he regains his lost touch.

“Shikhar came into this tournament in really good form. He showed that in early parts of the tournament (making 78 not out and 45 against Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians). He had a setback with an injury and that has also set back his momentum a little bit,” said Moody as quoted by Hindustan Times.

“He certainly doesn’t look to be a player out of form. So, for me, whether it is tomorrow night or next in Pune, he is going to make an impact. Good players like Shikhar don’t suddenly disappear from the face of the earth. They’ll come back and hurt someone. Maybe tomorrow night it is,” he added.

Moody also said his team is expecting a batting-friendly Feroz Shah Kotla wicket after playing on some tough pitches that prevented SRH from putting up big totals. It would be interesting to see whether the surface can change fortunes of Dhawan today.
