When AB de Villiers gets going, there is absolutely no bowler in the world who can survive the onslaught and Basil Thampi understood AB’s genius the hard way. De Villiers, after getting into the groove, hit the Kerala speedster for a huge six out of the Chinnaswamy with his trademark shot.

One of the reasons why no teams ever write RCB off even after a string of poor results, it is because of the combined duo of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. The duo’s mutual appreciation society had the power to put the fear of god into any opposition and if one of them fails, then, more often than not, the other guy makes sure that the team had a good score on board.

Today was one of those days when AB had to step in order to nullify Kohli’s early dismissal and he immediately stepped onto the plate to hit boundaries for fun. In the powerplay, he didn’t leave anyone and hit both spinners and pacers with equal ease to make sure that Chinnaswamy crowd had a lot of fun.

However, one of the sixes that he must have been proud of came in the 13th over which was bowled by Basil Thampi. When the speedster bowled a juicy full-toss on wide outside the off-stump, AB, moved across his crease, went down to his knee and sent the ball over the deep backward square leg roof which would have landed on something or someone outside the ground.

It was a type of shot that was sufficient to leave any cricketer flummoxed and understandably, chants of "ABD-ABD" echoed around the ground with full throttle to appreciate a genius who has done it over and over again but has the ability to wow everyone, time and again, too.
