Privileged to be playing Afghanistan in their historic first Test, says BCCI secretary Amitabh Chaudhary

Team India led by stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane are set to go up against formidable opposition in the form of the Afghanistan cricket team which will include popular names like Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Ahead of the match, BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary spoke about India’s privilege to host the newest members of the Test nations.

Choudhary, who is currently in Kabul, revealed that BCCI and Afghan Cricket Board enjoy cordial relations amongst themselves said that India were more than pleased to be involved in Afghanistan’s historic debut Test match.

"It is an honour to be here in Kabul being invited by Mr. President (Mashal). It is a privilege for us to be playing Afghanistan in their historic first Test match as we did not want to let go of this opportunity.

"Cricket will further strengthen ties between the two countries and deliver a message of peace. Afghan players are well known and loved in India because of their participation in IPL which will increase in the coming years," BCCI acting secretary said.

Choudhary further added that he believed the focus of the BCCI was to maintain cordial relations with the ACB with a long-term plan in mind.
