India vs Australia | Hosts will still win 4-0 in Tests, believes Glenn McGrath
Glenn McGrath is of the opinion that despite the absence of Steven Smith and David Warner, Australia have the ability to whitewash India in the upcoming Test series starting December 6. However, he further opined that in the absence of the two top players, India will give the hosts a tough fight.
Australia will miss the services of their regular skipper Steve Smith and explosive top-order batsman David Warner in the series against India in home as they are serving one-year ban following the ball tampering incident in South Africa earlier this year. However, former Aussie pacer McGrath has asserted that the Aussies are still the favourites to win the Test series against India. He also stated that this will be a good chance for the youngsters to showcase their talent in the absence of the two senior cricketers.
“The hole that Steve Smith and David Warner have left will be tough to fill. But it is a great opportunity for any young batsmen, if they can perform well they can cement their place in the Australian squad. It will be an interesting series, but I think Australia will still win 4-0,” McGrath told India Today.
India has done well in their recent series against the Windies in all three formats of the game and the legendary pacer feels that the series will be a tough one for the home team. India will play a three-match T20I series starting from tomorrow in Brisbane before the four Test matches starting on December 6 in Adelaide. India will also play a three-match one-day series in the tour in January after the conclusion of the Test matches.
“But seriously, without Smith and Warner, it will be a close series. Australia will have to play very, very well if they have to win,” the former pacer explained.
