VIDEO | Virat Kohli left frustrated as umpires decide to continue game despite heavy rain

No game is affected by the atmospheric conditions as much as cricket is and the slightest bit of rain sometimes can dampen the game altogether. Yesterday though umpires didn’t call for the cover when the rain started pouring in which made Virat Kohli visibly angry while discussing with the umpire.

After the continuous downpour resulted in the toss being delayed for a bit, the match began on time with India opting to bowl first in order to level the series. The clouds though suddenly opened up heavily during the second ball of the 19th over, but the on-field umpires Simon Fry and Paul Wilson decided not to stop the game.

After Jasprit Bumrah bowled the next delivery, it was almost impossible for people to sit in the stadium, and was very difficult for the players to continue playing too. Seeing umpire not taking any decision to stop the game, Kohli ran to the umpire at the business end and in an animated discussion, he was seen telling umpire to stop the game at the earliest.

While the umpire didn’t relent immediately, four balls later, it became so heavy that players had to leave the field, after which they never returned despite the weather showing the prospect of a resumption on multiple occasions. With the abandonment of the game, India's streak of seven straight T20I series wins has also come to a halt since a 1-1 draw is the best possible result.
