India vs Australia | We have a good chance of beating Aussies, claims Shikhar Dhawan
Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan, believes that Virat Kohli & Co. have a decent chance of defeating Australia on home soil provided they put on an overall consistent performance. Dhawan revealed he has moved on after the initial disappointment on being dropped from the Indian Test squad.
Shikhar Dhawan, who was adjudged as man of the series, in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia is highly optimistic over India’s chances of sealing a historic win against Australia on their tour Down Under. Virat Kohli & Co. will go up against the home team in four Test matches and will hope to pull off a rare win in Australia.
And the left-handed opener is positive that the Men in Blue have it in them to beat the mighty Aussies in their own backyard provided the visitors are consistent with the bat and ball and also in the field.
“I think we have got a very good chance to win the series here. We have to play good complete cricket in all three departments whether it’s batting, bowling or fielding and also catching. We have to be consistent and then we will have a good chance of beating Australia,” Dhawan told ESPNCricinfo in a recent interview.
The limited-overs specialist revealed that he was initially disappointed at being excluded from the Test squad but has moved on from that with time. Dhawan added that he hopes to find his best form soon enough and help India perform well at next year’s ICC ODI World Cup in England & Wales.
“Yes, I was a bit sad but I have moved on and I am in a good frame of mind. I am in a happy positive mood. I am enjoying my game. I have got a bit off time and I am going to enjoy my training and get myself fitter. I am happy and once I am happy things go well for me.
“I am going to give my best. I am a big believer in process and once I get it right, other things will follow on its own. Of course, we would like to bring the World Cup back home. I have done well in both Champions Trophies in England and with my experience, I hope to score a lot of runs in World Cup and give good starts and sail through so that we can get the Cup back,” Dhawan added.
