Virat could be rested again if need be to ensure he is fit for the World Cup, says BCCI senior officials
The Indian Team Management has chalked out a plan wherein, the top players (A class) in the team would be given some rest in the upcoming ODI’s. However, with the World Cup getting closer, the management has planned all of it so that the players would maintain fitness for the mega event.
Indian Captain Virat Kohli, who was on rest for the Asia Cup has faced some criticism from several quarters. He also missed the Nidahas Trophy and the inaugural test against Afghanistan. Not only Kohli, but the team management has also worked out the plan of not considering Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Test series against West Indies.
India has planned out for a lot of international games ahead against Australia, New Zealand and back at home against Australia and Zimbabwe before IPL next year. It has come across in learning that Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar would play against Australia after playing ODI’s or the T20 series against West Indies.
It is understood that the team management is planning out well with the squad and thinking out some better strategies for future tournaments to perform the better on grass.
According to the team, management would again meet in the course of the West Indies series to chalk out the plan for the future matches.
"Virat could be rested again if need be to ensure he is fit for the World Cup. It is a rotation policy which the team has initiated to keep the best combination for the World Cup in June 2019," a BCCI source told TOI on Sunday.
