All rounder Kedar Jadhav has expressed his surprise on being left out of the squad for the 3rd ODI against the Windies. Jadhav had picked up a hamstring injury during the Asia Cup and he will have to wait for clearance from NCA to make a comeback to international cricket for India.

Kedar Jadhav had been in splendid form during the Asia Cup particularly with the ball but his good run was cut short by a hamstring injury he suffered in the final against Bangladesh. However, the star all rounder made his comeback to competitive cricket with the India A team in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy at the Ferozshah Kotla. He was expected to be named in the India squad that is currently locked in a battle with the Windies in a five match series.

Hearing out the decision of omission, Jadhav told TOI, “I need to see why they didn’t pick me. I have cleared all tests and that’s why I played the match today. I am match fit. Unless you clear all the tests, you shouldn’t be picked for any matches and since I was fit the selectors asked me to play the Deodhar game. If I am not in the Indian team, I’ll focus on playing Ranji Trophy."

There has been a negative trend in Indian cricket of players not been told about being dropped from the National team from the selectors. However, Chief Selector MSK Prasad said that they wanted to see how well his body would hold up on the domestic circuit rather than throwing him in the deep end of International cricket.

“We don’t want to rush him. He has been breaking down whenever he has made a comeback. We wanted to give him enough game time to test his body. We hoped that he would be playing the Deodhar final but unfortunately his team lost,” Prasad explained.

“He will come back to the team. There is no doubt about his ability. I will have a word with him and convey how we plan to manage him.”

Jadhav said that he was ready to work with the physios so as to make a quick comeback to the side.

“It’s very important, to be honest with physios and trainers. Whatever your body tells you, you should convey it to the physios. You can’t hide things. I expect the same honesty from their side. You can’t afford to be cautious when you come back. As long as people at the NCA clear you, you shouldn’t have any doubt. Once I get a clearance from NCA, I don’t hold back,” Jadhav expressed.
