Banking on an unbeaten century by Shubham Gill, who made 106 runs, India C managed to secure an easy win of six wickets over Dinesh Karthik-led India A in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy tournament. India B are already in the finals all thanks to their wins against both India A and India C earlier.

Brief scores: India A 293 for 6 in 50 overs (Abhimanyu Easwaran 69 | Vijay Shankar 3-40) lost to India C 296 for 4 in 47 overs (Shubman Gill 106* | R Ashwin 1-46) by six wickets.

India A lost their second encounter on the trot to miss the ticket to the final of the Deodhar Trophy. Choosing to bat after winning the toss, Dinesh Karthik’s men got a decent start, a bit slow but a stable start to the innings. Looking at the fact that the opposition chased down the target easily with three overs to spare, Abhimanyu Eshwarn’s slow start proved costly to India A. Eashwaran made a scratchy contribution of 69 runs of 103 balls. Apart from him, Anmolpreet Singh, Nitish Rana, captain Dinesh Karthik, and Kedar Jadhav made quick runs and took the score to almost 300 runs. They made scores of 59,68,32, and 41 runs respectively even as Kedar Jadhav remained not out playing a quickfire innings. Vijay Shankar was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets for only 40 runs in his quota of ten overs.

During the chase, the India C team did not have the best of the starts as they lost their skipper Ajinkya Rahane for 14 runs. Thereafter they lost two more wickets and at 84 for three the India A bowlers saw an opening to turn the match in their favour but they could not clinch any more wickets until the game slipped from their fingers. After losing Abhinav Mukund and Suresh Raina, Shubham Gill and Ishan played superbly until Ishan fell for R Ashwin for a well made 69 off 60 balls at the score of 206 runs. But Shubham Gill was adamant on taking his team home which he ultimately succeeded in doing by remaining unbeaten after scoring a century. Couple more wickets fell after the wicket of Ishan failed to put India C in any kind of danger.

After this result, India C will take on the India B team in the Deodhar Trophy final match at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on 27th October.
