Shikhar Dhawan will reportedly be donning the Delhi Daredevils Jersey in the next IPL season after he was traded by Sunrisers’ Hyderabad in exchange of three players. The left-hander, who has represented India in 40 T20 Internationals, had started his IPL journey with Delhi DareDevils franchise.

After Gautam Gambhir returned to his hometown from Kolkata Knightriders last season, it would now be the southpaw who is leaving SRH for Delhi DareDevils in exchange of Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem.

At the last IPL auctions, Daredevils had bought the troika of Vijay Shankar (Rs 3.2 crore), Nadeem (Rs 3.2 crore) and Abhishek (Rs 55 lakh) for a total sum of INR 6.95 crore. Dhawan’s price was of Rs 5.2 crore, which would mean that Sunrisers would have to pay the balance amount to Delhi DareDevils, as per the reports of ESPNCricinfo.

Earlier in a season-opening exchange, Mumbai Indians had bought the South African southpaw Quinton De Kock from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and released Akila Dananjaya and Mustafizur Rahman of their duties.

Coincidentally Dhawan had started his IPL journey eleven years ago from the same franchise that he would now be moving to. He played for the franchise in the first season before moving to Mumbai Indian,  before then finally settling for Deccan Chargers/Sunrisers.

Shikhar Dhawan has scored 2768 runs from 91 innings for his last franchise and Delhi would be hoping that he get some valuable knock for his new franchise too. Now back in the Delhi Daredevils fold, if the left-hander contributes handsomely in the team's cause, they could finally hope to lift their maiden IPL Trophy that has been elusive for them in the last 11 IPL seasons.
