VIDEO | Rohit Sharma asks Brabourne crowd to chant “India-India” instead of “Rohit-Rohit”

Rohit’s consistency and the ability to rack up big scores put him well ahead of other openers in the ODI world cricket at the moment and Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium saw an exhibition of sorts when Rohit took Windies bowlers to cleaners and scored 162 runs in the process. It was a treat to the sore eyes bored by watching Virat Kohli’s boringly perfect cover drives. Brabourne was alive to the Rohit day.

Indian bowlers also responded well to the situation and took the visitors out of the game very soon in the innings. Rohit contributed there as well by holding onto a couple of catches at the slip cordon. But when he went to the boundary area to field in the deep, the crowd started chanting Rohit-Rohit in praise of the star who made their day.

However, the Indian vice-captain turned around to point to the place where India is written on his jersey and suggested the crowd to chant “India-India” instead. The crowd immediately responded to the same and instantly chanted the country’s name. Rohit, too, seemed to be very pleased by the gesture.
