Players participating in foreign T20 leagues will benefit Indian cricket, says Lance Klusener

Klusener, who has been hired by Delhi as a limited overs consultant, has mentioned that youngsters in the Indian domestic circuit will benefit if they are allowed to participate in foreign T20 leagues like the Big Bash and the T20 Bash and he believes that the exposure that it will provide to the youngsters will help India improve their overseas record. 

Currently, BCCI does not allow Indian cricketers to play in any other domestic competition unless they get permission from the board. Murli Karthik is one such example as he played for Surrey in County Cricket after getting a no objection certificate from the board. 

Klusener has stated that the Indian Premier League is a “phenomenon”, a competition that has singularly changed the dynamics of the game by providing an ecosystem for many domestic and international players to thrive in. Despite his praises of the IPL, he has pointed out that there are other T20 leagues like the Big Bash in Australia and England’s T20 Blast that provide a similar platform for players. 

“I think they are missing a trick by not allowing youngsters in India to travel and play in such tournaments. Because the exposure they are going to get there will be enormous. Just imagine, you have a youngster with the experience of playing in the Big Bash, and when he gets picked to represent India in Australia, neither the conditions nor those big grounds will be alien to him,” Klusener told the Indian Express. 

While the BCCI has stated the reason of busy international calendar behind not permitting Indian players to participate in foreign leagues.
