David Miller was all praise for his Kings XI Punjab teammates in a recent interview as he revealed that everyone has done exactly what has been asked of them this season in the IPL. Miller added that KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin is an excellent leader and has great knowledge of the game as well.

Kings XI Punjab currently find themselves occupying the third spot in the team standings for the 2019 season of the ongoing Indian Premier League. The Ravichandran Ashwin-led franchise will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings, who fell to their first defeat of the season against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. David Miller, who has been part of the Punjab-based franchise since 2012, lavished praise on his teammates who have put in an all-round performance thus far in the domestic league.

“It was a massive win for us. It is all about confidence and momentum and how we have played against RCB and Rajasthan (Royals) was quite impressive. Those were very important and it has been good for the team as well to win those two matches on the trot.

“It is very hard to point out any one thing but I can say that everyone has carried out their roles properly and at this moment, we have a really happy dressing room,” Miller said in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times.

The top-order batsman which include Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Miller, and Mayank Agarwal have all played their part this year, getting half-centuries in the first four matches itself. Miller started the campaign with a half-century in the loss against KKR but then followed it up with a 30-ball-43 against DC to help his team to a competitive total.

However, KXIP are in the news for skipper Ashwin’s aggressive approach and unorthodox decisions. His infamous ‘mankad’ dismissal followed by the decision to include England youngster Sam Curran in the win against Delhi have earned the India spinner rave reviews from the media. But Miller opined that Ashwin’s exemplary leadership skills and vast experience make him the perfect player to lead KXIP.

“It has been a great experience. His knowledge of the game is very good and he reads the game well. His leadership skills - especially player management - has also been quite good,” Miller added.
