Sourav Ganguly has stated that MS Dhoni’s hostile decision to step on to the field to speak to the umpires only showed that he was human and highly competitive even now. Ganguly also heaped praise on his bowlers after they restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 180 on a pitch that was a 200-run wicket.

Chennai’s thrilling win over Rajasthan Royals came to the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after their skipper MS Dhoni decided to barge onto the field to protest after the leg umpire had decided to cancel a no-ball. He was seen animatedly discussing with the officials for the decision to change, which came under a lot of criticism.

Consequently, Dhoni was fined 50 percent of his match fee although much of the cricketing fraternity has slammed his action for setting a bad precedent. However, the former skipper has found a sympathizer in his predecessor on Friday, as Ganguly saw the incident differently.

"Everyone is human. What stands out is his competitiveness. It's remarkable," said the Capitals’ mentor after the match, reported PTI.

Ganguly, who had approached the game amidst a conflict of interest allegation filed against him for being CAB President as well as Capitals mentor, cut across a happy face after Delhi completed a seven-wicket win over hosts Kolkata Knight Riders. He also praised his bowlers who limited KKR to 178 in the first innings.

"Two out of two against such a good team is outstanding. I am very satisfied. Everything at Eden is special. This is the best ground, the best pitch in the country. I feel we bowled exceptionally well to restrict them for 178. It's actually a 200 wicket," Ganguly added.
