IPL 2019 | Momentum is a big thing in cricket, feels Sam Curran
Sam Curran felt that momentum is a big thing in cricket. The left-arm-bowler was delighted when asked about his hat-trick against Delhi Capitals this season and said that IPL as been a great learning experience for him. Curran also said that he was well guided by senior members in the team.
Sam Curran is one of the promising cricketers in the fraternity, the 20-year-old, who made his Test debut in June 2018 against Pakistan, has picked 15 wickets in nine Test so far. He was appreciated for his brilliant spell where he took three wickets in eight balls against India in a Test series 2018, which impressed Kings XI Punjab to pouch him into the team for a whopping 7.2crore. Curran made the headlines when he scalped a hat-trick against Delhi Capitals in a crucial match.
Kings XI Punjab are in a topsy-turvy this season and are placed sixth on the points table with 10 points. Curran felt that momentum is an important thing in cricket and predicts that the team who gain momentum towards the business end of the tournament will lift the cup.
“The key for all the teams in the competition will be to find momentum. Whichever team get the momentum towards the end of the tournament will probably go on to lift the title,” 20-year-old said, reported HindustanTimes
While Curran impressed everyone with his performance in IPL, he was not given a place in England squad for the World Cup 2019. On England’s squad, the bowler said that he is hopeful that the English men will perform well in the World Cup, and again insisted on maintaining momentum.
“Momentum is a big thing in cricket and performing at the right time will be important at the World Cup. England have a very strong squad and hopefully, they can win the tournament. The other teams are also gearing up for the tournament and England need to find their form in the Pakistan series”, he said
The English Cricketer who has taken seven wickets in IPL so far said that he was delighted after taking a hat-trick against Delhi Capitals under the pump and cited that IPL has been a great learning experience for him.
“It has been a great learning experience for me. First time playing in India and I have to adjust my game according to the conditions. I have also learnt a lot of different skills while playing in the tournament and at the end of it, hopefully I will emerge a better player”, he said.
Curran added that he was well guided by senior members in the team and hoped that Punjab will perform well in the upcoming matches.
“It was an amazing feeling but the bigger thing was that my team was able to win the game. We showed a lot of fight in that game and hopefully, we will be able to continue in the last few games.” Curran said
“There are a lot of big names in our team and they are great players from all around the world. So, I tried to pick their brains during training and I also tried to learn from the local Indian players”, he added.
