Tim Paine’s captaincy has been the talking point, with Paine taking some interesting decisions throughout the Test. First, Paine stranded the left-hander on 335* as he put Pakistan to bat in the second innings. Further, Paine’s decision to bowl Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in tandem was definitely an eye-catcher.  

After taking and making many decisions throughout the game, the captain was left clueless on where the ball was after Pakistani batsman Rizwan had an ugly swipe at the ball. The ball narrowly whizzed past Paine’s helmet, which according to the rules would have cost the team five crucial runs. However, the wicketkeeper was very lucky to have been saved by just centimetres. 

Further, the commentators were left shocked by the way Paine responded to the shot, as the wicketkeeper was still looking in front of him as the wall went past his head. Smith, who fielded in first slip was quick to react and collected the ball in the first bounce with a lot of ooh’s and ah’s from the close-in fielders. 

Warner, who was fielding in the leg-slip position, was also quick in reacting, as Paine stood stone-cold and clueless. The ball found the millimetre gap between Paine, Warner and Smith as it fell right in between the trio as Nathan Lyon was left holding his hands on his head.
