After two stupendous domestic seasons, Tamil Nadu is gearing up to replicate the same show in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Shankar has been selected to lead the side for the first two matches against Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. Baba Aparajith will act as Shankar's deputy in those encounters.

Baba Indrajith had an imposing presence in the TN side thanks to his propensity to score big in every given situation and when Vijay Shankar was away with the national duty, he had been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the side. However, an injury to Indrajith and considering Shankar is no more regular in the Indian team, the TN selection committee decided to go back to the tried and tested formula of Shankar for the first two games against Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.

Due to his commitment with the Indian team, Washington Sundar will not be a part of the first game against Karnataka, and K Mukunth will fill up the squad. Once Sundar returns for the HP game, Mukunth will make way for the off-spinning all-rounder.

The team also comprise players like Murali Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, Dinesh Karthik, and Ravichandran Ashwin which will be further bolstered by the presence of players like Sai Kishore, M Siddharth, Shahrukh Khan, and T Natarajan - all of them were impressive in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Squad: Vijay Shankar (Captain), B Aparajith (Vice Captain), M Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, K Dinesh Karthik, N Jagadeesan, R Ashwin, R Sai Kishore, T Natarajan, K Vignesh, Abhishek Tanwar, M Ashwin, M Siddharth, Shahrukh Khan, K Mukunth.
