The secretary of Cricket Club of India (CCI) Suresh Bafna has said that India should not play the Cricket World Cup match against arch-rivals Pakistan in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pulwama. He mentioned that even though CCI is a sporting organisation but nation comes first for it.

According to ANI reports, CCI secretary Suresh Bafns is of the opinion that the World Cup 2019 game between arch-rivals India and Pakistan shouldn’t take place. He has asked the Indian cricket team to pull out of the game against the neighbouring country in the upcoming world event. The cricketing ties between India and Pakistan have always been affected by the political issues between both the governments of both nations. The statement from the CCI secretary has come after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, in which at least 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost their lives.

Bafna also lashed out at Pakistani Prime Minister and the CCI also covered the portrait of the former Pakistani skipper in their headquarters at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

"He (Imran Khan) should respond. He is the Prime Minister and if he believes that Pakistan has no role to play in the attack then why is he not coming out openly. He should come out openly. People should know the truth. He is not coming out openly which means that there are Stains in their folds," Suresh Bafna told ANI.

"We called a meeting on the very next day of the attack and to condemn the attack, we decided to cover the photo. We'll be deciding soon how to remove the photo. We condemn the terror activities carried out against our army and CRPF personnel. Though CCI is a sporting association but nation comes first even before sports.”

India is scheduled to take on Pakistan on June 16 in the upcoming World Cup which will be played in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14.
