VIDEO | MS Dhoni left shell-shocked after umpire instantly signals out for ball pitching outside leg

DRS was introduced to reduce the umpiring howlers and if anyone who has proved the umpire wrong most of the times, it has to be MS Dhoni. Today, however, was a day that he would rue as he was given out wrongly, but left disappointed after realising that the team didn’t have any reviews left.

Fate matters in cricket as much as skills and no one understands it better than MS Dhoni. Often touted as one of the finest to use his "luck" to go ahead in any game, Dhoni left to rue to his own fate after being wrongly given out today.

In the 33rd over of India’s run-chase, Jason Behrendorff bowled a full delivery on the stumps and Dhoni missed the flick altogether. While the former Indian skipper was confident that he was safe, umpire Michael Gough immediately raised his finger for an LBW dismissal, only considering the fact that it was a full ball and would go on to hit the stumps.

Dhoni was completely shell-shocked by the decision and had no other option but returning back to the pavilion as Ambati Rayudu had wasted the review earlier. While Dhoni walked back to the pavilion, the replays came on the big screen which suggested that the ball pitched on the leg-side and despite going on to hit the stumps, it couldn’t have been out anyway.
