Sachin Tendulkar, who questioned MS Dhoni's intent in the match against Afghanistan, has come forward and said that Dhoni did exactly what the team needed, in the match against Bangladesh. Dhoni has been in the spotlight for his knock against England, with people questioning his 'lack of intent'.

MS Dhoni, who was questioned for showing a 'lack of intent' in the game against England, came out with a much more purposeful approach in the game against Bangladesh on Tuesday, as he struck a 33-ball 35 after walking in to bat with the team 237/4. Despite wickets falling around him at regular intervals, Dhoni ensured that he stuck around, guiding his team to a score of 314/9 in the process.

Sachin Tendulkar, who had previously questioned Dhoni's approach in the match against Afghanistan, has now come forward and stated that Dhoni played an important knock, and did what was needed for the team. “I felt it was an important innings and he (MS Dhoni) did exactly what was right for the team. If he stays till the 50th over, he can help other guys around him. He is expected to do that and he did that,” Sachin told India Today.

Sachin also praised Dhoni for being a team man and stated that he responded to the need of the hour. “For him, it is more about the team. Whatever is the need of the hour, one needs to do that and on Tuesday, he did that perfectly,” Sachin added.

India next travel to Headingley, where they will take on a spirited Sri Lankan team in what will be their last group match of this World Cup.
