Lasith Malinga is more often than not reckoned as that lion, who has gotten old but still hunting down his prey with ease. Despite being in the twilight of his career, Malinga has weaved magic with the ball and on this occasion, got the better of a well set KL Rahul with his wily bouncer.

After posting a modest total of 264 on the board, Sri Lankan bowlers needed early wickets to put any kind of pressure on the star-studded Indian line-up, but it wasn’t to be. A solid opening stand ensured India had no trouble in chasing down the total but Malinga didn’t give up yet.

On the final delivery of the 41st over, Malinga tested Rahul with a bouncer, which kept following him as the batsman tried to duck away. Eventually, the ball brushed his gloves as Rahul was on the ground while trying to get away from the ball but failed terribly to do so. The catch was easily cupped by the wicketkeeper as Malinga finally managed to bag a wicket and that too in style.

The magical delivery ended Rahul’s gritty innings but it hardly hurt India as they were on the brink of a scintillating win, which they eventually achieved by eight wickets and 39 deliveries to spare.
