Jason Roy has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for breaching Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second semi-final against Australia in Manchester on Thursday. The English opener showed dissent towards umpire Kumar Dharmasena after he was incorrectly given out in that game.

England Opener Jason Roy, who blasted a match-winning 85 in the semi-final against Australia, has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for showing dissent at umpire Kumar Dharmasena after he was wrongly ruled out by the latter.  Roy has also been handed two demerit points for his outburst but has escaped a suspension - a suspension which would have meant the opener missing the all-important final.

As per the ICC, "Roy was found to have breached Article 2.8 ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to showing dissent at an umpires decision in an international match. In addition to the 30% fine, two demerit points have been added to Roy's disciplinary record."

After umpire Dharmasena adjudged Roy out, off a Pat Cummins bouncer, Roy stood firm at the ground for a long while in anger and disbelief, showing dissent towards Dharmasena, after realizing England had no reviews left due to his partner Jonny Bairstow using up the review earlier.

After a heated argument with Dharmasena where Roy seemed to indicate that the ball was indeed a wide, square umpire Marais Erasmus had to step in and diffuse the situation, after which the English opener left the field.

Roy has admitted to and accepted the sanctions for the charges on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Dharmasena, third umpire Chris Gaffaney and fourth official Aleem Dar levelled against him.
