According to reports, there have been two factions in the Indian team who are unhappy with the unilateral decisions taken by the skipper, Virat Kohli, and coach Ravi Shastri, asking for the coach and bowling coach's sack. While one faction supports opener Rohit Sharma, the other supports Kohli.

Just three days after India crashed out of the 2019 World Cup with their semi-final loss against New Zealand, Dainik Jagran has reported that the rift within the players has reached a stage where coach Shastri, and bowling coach, Arun Bharat are not welcome in the team.

“Virat is performing great with the bat but when will this coach and bowling coach leave?” said a player as quoted by Dainik Jagran.

The report alleges Kohli and Shastri, who are highly favoured by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), making unilateral decisions for the team as a whole. While Ambati Rayudu is always overlooked, there is a strong bias in selection towards Vijay Shankar or the inconsistent, KL Rahul.

The report even claims that Kohli’s RCB teammate, Yuzvendra Chahal, is preferred over spin twin, Kuldeep Yadav, in the case where one needs to be left out. The preferential treatment even extends to the senior players like the vice-captain, Sharma. While him and Jasprit Bumrah are considered indispensable, the fate of others is often in the balance. Those in the 'Virat Company' get preference in the team selection, over the other one loyal to Rohit, the report stated.
