Vinod Rai, chairman of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators, said that the committee is set to hold a review meeting with Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli once they are back in India. The committee is expected to particularly review some of the selections made for the big event.

After India’s World Cup exit in the semi finals at the hands of New Zealand, the team is expected to fly back to Mumbai on Sunday. The CoA panel, appointed by the Supreme Court to oversee the working of the BCCI, will have two agendas for the meeting with Shastri and Kohli.

"We will certainly have a review meeting once the coach and the captain are back from their breaks. I will not put a date and time but we will speak to them. Also we will speak to selection committee head on the road ahead," Rai told PTI.

It is understood that the thinking behind overlooking Ambati Rayudu, playing three wicket keepers in the playing XI, and even the much discussed, batting order for the run chase in the semis, will be called into question.

The committee will also hold discussions with chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad, to chart out a roadmap for the T20 World Cup in Australia next year. The five-member selection panel will continue till the BCCI AGM, but CoA is definite to ask Prasad to be more assertive in the selection process. It is learnt that fellow selectors Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi have not been giving enough inputs during selection meetings.

"Agreed that none of them have the stature of a Dilip Vengsarkar but together they can still hold their ground on cricketing logic. Neither Sarandeep nor Devang offer any tangible inputs. MSK got some respite once Jatin Paranjpe and Gagan Khoda re-joined," a senior BCCI source said.
