The BCCI will invite fresh applications for the Indian team's coaching staff and Ravi Shastri will need to re-apply after his contract expires following the Windies tour. The support staff were given a 45-day extension following the World Cup, covering the Windies tour from August 3 to September 3.

Once India returns from West Indies, the home season will kick off with a series against South Africa beginning September 15 and India will kick start that with a fresh coach at the disposal. While it might still be Ravi Shastri, the process will go on exactly the way it did after Anil Kumble’s controversial exit as India coach in June 2017. Shastri was appointed India chief coach in 2017 after Kumble's tenure ended prematurely.

"The job openings will be put up on our website in a day or two. Besides the support staff, fresh applications will also be invited for the post of team manager," a BCCI official told PTI.

While all of Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar can re-apply, the team will have a new trainer and physio after the departure of Shankar Basu and Patrick Farhart respectively following India's semifinal exit in the World Cup.

For all positions, the BCCI has done away with the direct appointment and follows a proper recruitment process and the new manager process will get underway with the coach selection. Initially, former Tamil Nadu captain Sunil Subramanian was appointed team manager in 2017 on a year-contract but he got an extension until the end of the Windies tour.
