Reports | Kohli decided against rest to be with team as collective morale was down

Team India’s loss to New Zealand has shattered the whole squad. While some media reporters took it to the level of saying there were rifts among key players like Rohit Sharma and skipper Kohli, the others simply speculated on those players who should be discarded with immediate effect. All in all, the scene is a mess. 

At this crucial juncture in Indian cricket, it would’ve proved costly if Kohli had taken a step back to rest. While he has played too many games in a tight schedule and deserves a rest, the skipper himself chose to go with the team to the Caribbean. 

“There were indeed suggestions that he should rest but he decided that his presence would be required for the side. The collective morale of the players is down and he didn’t want to stay away at this crucial juncture,” an insider was quoted as saying by Bangalore Mirror, reported Hindustan Times. 

Kohli will play, and captain the side, in all three formats against the Windies.
