After the impressive display against South Africa, Kuldeep Yadav revealed that he needed to get to his basics after the conclusion of this year’s IPL which is why he trained for 10 days with his coach. Yadav and Chahal starred in the opening win against the Proteas claiming a total of five wickets.

Yadav has risen through the ranks in the last couple of years having sealed a spot in the Indian team under Virat Kohli on the back of some impressive performances when given an opportunity to bowl. Yadav has a tally of 88 wickets from 45 ODIs with India but had a rather quiet IPL with KKR this year picking up just four wickets.

After the recent win against South Africa in the ongoing World Cup, Yadav revealed that he needed to go back to basics after the conclusion of the IPL in order to prepare for the global showpiece.

"T20 is different from ODI and after IPL got over, I went back to my coach, practised for 10 days and fixed all the problems. I needed to get back to my basics.

"I needed to be back at my best in a big event and I mixed pace with variation. In England, the wickets will be flat and there won't be too much help from the wicket. So we need to alter the pace of our deliveries and use it as a variation," Kuldeep said as per PTI sources.

The wrist-spinning duo of Chahal and Yadav were key to India’s win against a struggling South African team picking up five wickets amongst themselves. Yadav added that there is a lot to learn from Chahal ahead of the crucial tie against Australia on Sunday.

"He is more experienced than me. He has a very good idea of how to bowl to a certain batsman and I need to learn from him. I am feeling good about how the ball is coming out of my hand. Chahal and I could execute the plan we had chalked (against SA). We checked the flow of runs in the middle overs and also picked wickets," the left-arm wrist spinner added.
