Aaron Finch doubts his inclusion in the Australian Test squad for the upcoming Ashes

The most intense Test battle known to mankind – The Ashes - is all set to commence once the World Cup concludes its result and the anticipation for the same is on a high. Australia’s limited-format skipper Aaron Finch has spoken about his chances of making it to the Test squad on the eve of their group stage encounter against Sri Lanka. 

Finch has had a lean patch in whites in recent times, he was also dropped from the final two Test against India at home after struggling to churn out runs in the first three games. The elegant batsman was not included in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka. However, his white ball form has seen a rise after a series of low scores.

On being asked about his chances of a Test recall, Finch replied saying, “I haven’t honestly thought about it whatsoever. I’m not sure what they [the selectors] are planning with the squad or anything like that. Obviously I’d love to play if the opportunity comes up. I think being The Ashes is way down the list, or I’m way down the list, having missed my opportunity throughout the summer,” reported Cricinfo.

The Ashes in England would be a litmus test for the Australians and finch admitted that the young guns have done extremely well to earn a spot and have a bright future ahead of them. 

“The short answer is, no. I would love … of course I’d love to. But the young guys have come in and done such a good job, and they have got such bright futures, all of them. Whether they all get picked or whether one or two misses out, I don’t think that will be the end of the world for them,” Finch added.
