Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that the BoG has decided in a meeting to analyse the cricket team’s on field performances as well as the personnel staff’s conduct off it. The team has come under severe criticism for its poor World Cup campaign and will be subject to strict scrutiny.

After the 54th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting was held in the PCB headquarters in Lahore, it was announced through a media release that a detailed review of the cricketers and the supporting staff’s performances over the past three years will be conducted post the ongoing World Cup. The review will aim to draw up recommendations to better execute plans which will be submitted to Ehsan Mani, the PCB Chairman as well as to the BoG.

In a media release before the meeting was conducted, a four-fold agenda was presented to the media that mainly covered administrative issues such as approval of the budget and appointment of auditors apart from a couple of other minor matters.

However, even so, the issue of the team’s disappointing run in the World Cup came up for discussion with the members agreeing that the results so far have not been able to match expectations. Hence, the Board gave a green light to a review of the entire team which had also been agreed upon in a previous meeting but its timeline has been moved up in all probability to ensure Pakistan returns to winning ways.

"It was agreed, and as previously stated, following the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019, the PCB will carry-out a robust review and analysis of the side's and the team support personnel's performances in the past three years and submit their recommendations to the chairman and the BoG for their consideration,” the media release stated, reported Cricbuzz.

With reports of improper conduct and lack of professionalism, apart from subpar captaincy and rumoured loss of support for Sarfaraz Khan, the Board’s statement backed the players to not lose faith and motivated them to finish the World Cup on a strong note.

"The BoG had a discussion on the Pakistan cricket team's recent performance across all formats. The members agreed the team's performance in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 to date has been below expectation, but expressed faith, support and confidence in the side, and hoped they will utilise all their talent and potential in the remaining matches to bounce back strongly and finish on a high,” read the media release.

With chances of Pakistan progressing to the semi-finals very slim, their campaign in the mega event is expected to end on the 5th of July when they face Bangladesh n the final match of the group stages.
