Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan has been struck on the side of his head by a ball during a net session in Southampton but he is understood to be out of danger. The incident took place while Mehidy was giving an on-field interview on the eve of Bangladesh's match against Afghanistan.

Bangladesh have been riddled by injuries far too often in this World Cup and the likes of Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain missed the game against Australia due to a back spasm and hurt shoulder respectively. Although Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Mashrafe Mortaza are all carrying injuries, they have continued to play.

In what has come out as a terrible blow for the Asian nation, spinner Mehidy Hasan has been struck on the side of his head by a ball during a net session in Southampton. Hassan was giving an interview on the sidelines of the practice session on the eve of Bangladesh's match against Afghanistan when he got a blow on his head. While he is reported out of danger by the medical team, a concussion report is yet to be completed.

Bangladesh media manager Rabeed Imam revealed that Hasan wanted to continue batting in the nets but was not allowed to because the concussion report was not submitted. Hasan has not been in very good form this World Cup, picking only five wickets in five games. One of the major issues that he had to face was the lack of penetration from the other end and as a result, he conceded a lot of runs in the process.
