Although the balance of the game is being heavily titled in the favour of batsmen, a Yorker is still difficult to get away with for any genius at the crease. Ben Stokes was leading the English fightback when Mitchell Starc’s deadly Yorker ended his innings on 8 and he kicked his bat in frustration.

After an early collapse, England were in all sorts of trouble and needed some kind of a miracle to bail them out of troubled waters. Ben Stokes was battling it out in the middle and all the hopes rested on his responsible shoulders. Chris Woakes was providing good support while Stokes’ calculated aggression was narrowing down the margin and Australia were in desperate need of a wicket. Aaron Finch brought his best bowler into the attack and the move paid off nicely.

On the final delivery of the 36th over, Mitchell Starc surprised Stokes with a brilliant Yorker, which ripped through his defences and shattered the timber. Stokes was frustrated with his untimely dismissal and kick his bat in fury. Safe enough to say, England’s hopes of winning this game ended with his dismissal and Stokes was well aware of that.

England are now in a tricky situation as they need to win the last two games of the league stages in order to make it to the semi-finals.
