IPL 2019 | We haven't discussed 'Mankading' even once after the game, asserts Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat has stated that there was no discussion about the Mankading after that day in the Rajasthan Royals camp and they moved on from that incident on that night only. He has also added that Jos Buttler’s form helps other batsmen find their mojo back and adds to their confidence as well.

Royals’ coach Paddy Upton had come down hard on Ravichandran Ashwin after the Mankading act performed by the latter and didn’t mince words to criticise his morality while Jofra Archer used harsh words to criticise Ashwin’s captaincy on a tweet before deleting it. While everyone thought the team would go through a very difficult phase after that night’s game, Unadkat’s statement came as a revelation as the pacer stated that there was no discussion about the Mankading after that night in the Rajasthan Royals dressing room.

"To be honest, we didn't even mention it once after that day. We have moved on from it and its time to focus on the game on hand. It didn't make any impact on us as such," Unadkat was quoted as saying by PTI.

"Even though we lost the first game, we started the tournament well. The way we approached the game and the training we have done, I am pretty confident ahead of the game tomorrow. I am looking forward to it," he said.

After Buttler’s dismissal, Royals batting line-up fell like a pack of cards and there was no resistance whatsoever. Kumar Sangakkara had stated that they should have still won the game after the Englishman’s departure and Undatkat stated that they are sure not to replicate it further in the next matches.

"The collapse shouldn't really have happened but I am sure we will not look to replicate it. Instead, we will learn from our mistakes and move on. It was the first game of the season and we had a bit of a hiccup but if we don't repeat it in the tournament we will really be happy. It is good that we went through it early on."

Buttler has been in a very good form in the last one year and lit up the Jaipur sky with a splendid performance before being dismissed controversially. While a lot is dependent on him, the slow batting performance by the middle-order nullifies a lot of good work done by him. Unadkat, however, stated that Buttler’s batting helps other batsmen gain confidence.

"It actually adds to the confidence of the other batsmen. If someone starts the innings in such a fashion, the others get a lot of confidence. People can always learn from the way he not only plays but also approaches the innings. It is really good for us. He had played down the order for us last season and now he is doing well at the top. He is in prime form and it's about building partnerships with him. However, it can't be Buttler only winning games for us. Others have to step forward and win games for us. Buttler being in prime form is a great advantage for us."
