ICC World Cup 2019 | Kuldeep Yadav will be fine, says Dilip Vengsarkar

Kuldeep Yadav was smacked for 27 runs in one over by Moeen Ali and the Indian skipper in KKR’s game against RCB and after the hammering, the left-arm spinner was inconsolable and was on his knees near the boundary. It would have been okay for normally brave Kuldeep had it been one-off, but the wrist-spinner has nowhere been as close to the form that had made him a sudden rising star of Indian cricket a couple of years ago. 

In 2017, Kuldeep took 17 wickets in 16 games, but this season, his wicket tally stood at three from nine games at an average of 71.50 with the economy rate being 8.66. While that concerned many Indian cricket fans, Vengsarkar said it is okay considering the fact that ODI is a totally different format altogether.

"It's a different format. He will get enough chance to get acclimatised to the conditions. Unlike T20, there are more overs and scope to comeback in odis. He will be fine. It's in the past now. One has to look ahead and I hope India does well in the World Cup," the former Indian skipper told India Today.

While England are the prime contenders to win the tournament, India and Australia are the other two teams being firmly footed to upset the apple cart. While a chance of a huge upset by Pakistan can never be taken out of the equation, the former national selector has stated that India, England and Australia will make the semi-finals.

"My feeling is India, England and Australia will make the semi-finals. I don't know about the fourth team yet. India certainly has the potential to make the last four. If they have a good day in the semis then the finals."

India will start their World Cup campaign by playing against South Africa on June 5.
