Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman will depose in front of the BCCI Ombudsman Justice (Retd.) DK Jain for their conflict of interest allegations on May 14. Sachin is the icon of IPL franchise MI, whereas Laxman is the mentor of SRH and both are a part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, along with Sourav Ganguly, are a part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). However, given Sachin and Laxman’s roles in their respective Indian Premier League Franchises Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association’s (MPCA) Sanjeev Gupta had alleged conflict of interest in the their dual role.

After sending in their response through a letter, the both Sachin and Laxman will appear in front of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket In India) Ombudsman Justice DK Jain, who also serves as the Ethics Officer, on May 14 in New Delhi. Along with the duo, the complainant Gupta and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri have also been summoned by Justice Jain.

“Yes, both Tendulkar and Laxman had sought in person deposition before the Ethics Officer and as per principles of natural justice. Accordingly they have been asked to depose in Delhi on May 14. The timing and venue will be notified later,” said a BCCI official privy to the matter while remaining anonymous, reported PTI.

The legendary cricketers have dismissed all allegations against them and had blamed the apex governing body as it never mentioned any ‘tractable Conflict of Interest’. Tendulkar had even requested Justice Jain to sommon both Johri and Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai but for now, only the former will be summoned. It is learnt that Johri will be representing the CoA.

It was earlier reported that the BCCI had refused to get involved in the matter as they had no relation to it, nevertheless the official pointed out that CAC is in fact a BCCI sub committee.

“The BCCI is a party to the case and just like in Sourav Ganguly’s case, the parent body will give its view. There were erroneous reports that BCCI will not be represented. CAC is a BCCI sub committee,” explained the official.
