IND vs SA | We believe we can win anywhere in the world, says Virat Kohli
Indian captain Virat Kohli believes that his team has the potential to defeat any team in the world in their own backyard with a multi-dimensional bowling attack at his disposal. India have whitewashed South Africa for the first time in their history, completing an 11th straight home series win.
Virat Kohli was pumped up after India whitewashed South Africa after inflicting an innings defeat in the third Test at Ranchi. Kohli was extremely happy with the kind of efforts that his team has put in and has shown the faith that his team carries the potential to beat any team anywhere in the world. He was particularly impressed with the way the bowlers bowled on dead, flat pitches and made life difficult for the visitors with consistent lines and lengths.
"Amazing, as you guys have spoken about everything, you guys have seen from the outside, the way we've been playing and the way we have come off as a side. Making things happen on pitches that don't offer much. Really proud of the whole team to be honest," said Kohli in the post-match press conference.
Speaking about the overseas series losses to South Africa and England, Kohli pointed out to the fact that they were in the game and competed with a desire to win in each of the games that they played and this is something that he has addressed to the team, to put in the maximum efforts possible.
"Even when we travelled away from home, we competed in every game, we wanted to win and do the difficult things. It all starts with the mind. It's amazing to see the mindset of the team, it's been a brilliant series for us," said Kohli.
Kohli believes that his side needs to have more than one dimension to be called the best side. He did not win the series unleashing his spinners on landmines. His fast bowlers did the trick by bowling terrific lines and lengths and that's what has made him proud as the captain of the Indian team.
"To be the best side in the world, you need to be multi-dimensional. All facets of your team have to fire. Spin was always a strength, batting was never a problem for us. Fast bowling was very good and then young bowlers came in. Ishant was the only experienced bowler in the lot. The fielders started working hard as well. The catching has been brilliant as well. It's great to see when you operate in such a way," he further added.
"Even not with much experience, we believe we can win anywhere in the world. We can win anywhere, England, Australia, South Africa, good things are going to follow," he concluded.
