Even in the doghouse, Steve Smith can come back with flying colours. Tell him he is not a dog, and he would make the podium of Crufts. Such has been his zeal to succeed that he made up for a dropped catch with an effort that was just brilliant, to say the least. It was surreal.

With Mitchell Marsh acquiring the flavour of the day, he was due for a wicket when Tim Paine brought him back into the attack, replacing Pat Cummins, and in a heightened state of mind, the Western Australian was bowling as good as he ever was. On the last delivery of the said 87th over, he bowled a length delivery which drew Woakes into a flashy drive. 

The failure to check the shot resulted in Woakes getting a thickish edge for the ball to fly away from him and even beat the man standing at second slip - Steve Smith. It was just not going to be a catch. But wait, was it not Smith standing there? Was there a possibility?

Yes, definitely there was one, as he plucked one out of thin air to send the entire ground to a standstill. The unique catch took the cake for the day but he hardly celebrated the dismissal but rather put up a swag walk that just looked so natural.
