According to reports, there will be no change in the quarantine protocols for England and Australia players, who are presently involved in bilateral series in England, when they arrive in the UAE on September 17 for the Indian Premier League 2020, which is slated to begin from September 19.

With as many as 22 players involved in IPL 2020 from England and Australia, they represent a substantial list of players, who will be missed, in case they are not available due to quarantine protocols. It will be a huge blow for franchises to enter the tournament without their crucial players, especially the teams, where they form the core of the squad.
According to reports from Cricbuzz, the players from the bilateral series in England, who will reach UAE on September 17, will have to follow all the protocols, without any relaxations. As per the protocols, they will have to test negative for Covid-19 on Days 1, 3 and 6 to be eligible to join the team. If the players return three negative results, they will be allowed to play from September 24, by when each team will have played at least one game with only CSK and MI playing two each.
Teams like Rajasthan Royals, who are led by Steve Smith, and also have the likes of Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer and Andrew Tye in their squad, are likely to be most affected, alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are led by David Warner and also have Jonny Bairstow. Royal Challengers Bangalore, too, have four of their players participating in the England-Australia series.
