Cricket is a often a game of inches and it was truly an inch that created one of the biggest controversies in IPL history today. In the match between DC and RR, tempers flared after the umpires failed to spot a no ball in the last over which led to Delhi threatening to walk off in protest.

Chasing a steep target of 223, DC got off a good start and managed to get 55 off the powerplay. However, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals but were still in the game needed 36 off the last two overs. Prasidh Krishna put his mark on the game bowling a maiden wicket in the penultimate over, leaving DC needing a perfect over to seal the win.

Much like most of the game, Delhi were not done as Rowman Powell smashed the first ball of the Obed McCoy back over his head for a six. The second ball found itself over the deep extra cover fence bearing the same result. As the game became tense and the Wankhede jumped to life, controversy was just around the corner.

On the third ball of the over, McCoy bowled a high full toss at Powell, who smashed it over deep mid wicket for a third six in the over. However, that is when things got, to put in mildly, interesting. Delhi claimed that they wanted a no ball as well since the ball appeared to be over the waist of the West Indian. The umpires refused to entertain the request and Rishabh Pant was seen asking his players to walk off the field in protest. Praveen Amre also made it onto the field of play to have a chat with the umpire, who refused to budge from his stance or even refer it upstairs.

Eventually, Delhi continued and could only manage two runs off the last three balls to concede the match. Twitter was not too pleased with what happened in the last over and decided to vent out on the social media platform.

Angry Pant! :o :o

Crazy crowd!

Then: Dhoni, Now: Pant :o

It was being different case then!

Pant has got guts!

Lol!🤣🤣🤣

Huge controversy!

It should have been given no-ball!
