Sanju Samson has lauded his team's decision after Rajasthan Royals registered a 24-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 63 of IPL 2022 on Sunday. The RR skipper returned to bat at No. 3, and stabilized the innings after they lost Jos Buttler early, which later proved to be a crucial decision.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) roared back in winning ways on Sunday with a comprehensive 24-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 63 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. The Sanju Samson-led side, after opting to bat, posted 178/6 on the board and then restricted LSG to 154/8. Trent Boult was adjudged Player of the Match for his excellent figures of 4-0-18-2.

It was an all-round batting show by RR, with multiple batters chipped in with handy contributions. Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them a solid start by scoring 41 off 29 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal played a breezy cameo of 18-ball 39 to carry the momentum. Samson himself starred with the bat as well, scoring 32 off 24 balls. Among the RR bowlers, everyone got at least a wicket, with Ravichandran Ashwin closing on impressive figures of 1-24. Notably, only Yuzvendra Chahal went for more than ten runs an over.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, RR skipper Sanju Samson credited his side's decisions at crucial junctures for getting an easy victory. One of them was definitely his return to bat at No. 3, which helped his side to score runs quickly in middle overs after they lost Jos Buttler early.

"We have been taking some good decisions. This win was satisfying. The atmosphere is chilled and nice, it's not easy to maintain it when there are losses and we have done it well. Batting first suits our approach well, we want to bat positively and the bowling unit is good as well," Samson said at the post-match presentation.

"(On returning to a conventional batting order) Decisions are judged by results, Ashwin did well last game as well. (On fielding) The intensity in the field was good. Special mention to Neesham who brought a lot of energy. (On using Ashwin in different phases) The bonus of having quality spinners is you can use them anywhere."

Following the result, RR moved up to second on the points table, with eight wins and five defeats. LSG, on the other hand, slipped to third place. They did have same number of wins, but did not have a better net run rate than RR.
