One of the primary reasons behind the popularity of the Indian Premier League is the amalgam of star-studded athletes competing against one another. Yet another riveting contest was seen when Axar Patel outwitted the in-form Heinrich Klaasen in Delhi on Saturday as SRH squared off against DC.

Winning the toss and electing to field first backfired for the Delhi Capitals on their first home game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi as SRH openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma teed off their bowlers inside the powerplay to notch up the highest powerplay score (125) in IPL’s history. Despite the fall of Abhishek and Aiden Markram following a ruthless assault, Heinrich Klaasen intended to join the party before Axar Patel sent him packing to the dugout.

With the score reading 154/3 in nine overs, Axar Patel was summoned in the attack. He came around the wicket and dished an arm ball on a good length that skidded off the surface to beat Klaasen’s stroke and crash onto the stumps. The Proteas star looked to rock back for a wild heave but ended up getting beaten on the inside edge and walking back in frustration after getting cleaned up. With SRH looking to pepper the host bowlers, Axar was spotted pumped up after getting the in-form batter baited. He yelled out of frustration with a finger pointing towards the dugout for Klaasen, thereby sending the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
