Bangladesh Test squad set to arrive four days early for Pakistan Test
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the Bangladesh senior cricket team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on August 13. This comes after political unrest in Bangladesh affected their preparations for the upcoming two-match Test series and the Tigers will now arrive four days before.
PCB’s Chief Operating Officer said, “Sports is not only about winning and losing, it’s also about comradery. I remain confident that the extra training sessions in Lahore will allow the players to showcase their best skills and talent on the global stage.” He further added, “ Bangladesh team’s early arrival will allow them to have three additional days of training and practice at one of our iconic venues before proceeding to Islamabad as originally planned.”
The PCB had earlier extended an invitation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to send their team ahead of schedule, ensuring they have ample and fair training opportunities before the ICC World Test Championship matches.
Acknowledging PCB’s invitation, Bangladesh Cricket’s Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said, “We thank the PCB for giving the Bangladesh cricket team the opportunity to have additional training in Pakistan. This will certainly help the players to acclimate to the conditions and prepare better for the ICC World Test Championship series.”
This marks Bangladesh’s first tour of Pakistan since 2020 when they played three T20Is in Lahore and an one-off Test in Rawalpindi. The Tigers Bangladesh will clash against Pakistan in two Test matches as part of the ICC World Test Championship. The first Test is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi from August 21 to 25 while the second match will be held in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
