BGT | Twitter guffaws as wild beer snake in crowd causes unnecessary quarrel between Siraj and Marnus

Drinking has never not been a dangerous habit but rarely has the mere suggestion of it on the sidelines caused a beef in the middle of a Test match. Mohammed Siraj and Marnus Labuschagne amusingly found themselves embroiled in a heated argument for no fault of their own, in Adelaide on Friday.

‌A drsastic middle-order collapse triggered by Mitchell Starc's six-wicket haul saw India bowled out for 180 in the traditional pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval after they won the toss and chose to bat first. The hosts in response lost Usman Khawaja cheaply to Jasprit Bumrah but Marnus Labuschagne and rookie Nathan McSweeney showed great grit to help the team sail into comfortable waters as the day's end approached. The likes of Virat Kohli and Harshit Rana were chirpy as ever in the middle hoping to earn India the crucial breakthrough but the usual aggressive demeanour seemed a bit lacking from Mohammed Siraj and when the pacer did lash out eventually, it came in unfortunate circumstances.

The partnership stood on the brink of a half-century when Siraj took the ball for his 10th over of the evening, having gone unrewarded thus far despite some peaches. He had Marnus Labuschagne in his sights and with his first four balls defended comfortably, Siraj was visibly growing frustrated. Things reached a boiling point when the batter suddenly moved out of the way just as Siraj was about to deliver the penultimate delivery of his over and even though the right-arm quick stopped in time, he let his instincs took over to sling the throw the ball at the stumps. Marnus was quick to get out of the way and had to endure some choice words for his antics, but as it turned out, this time no blame could be laid on the unorthodox batter.

Replays showed an audience member had stacked up a tower of disposable glasses and was merrily strolling across the sight screen which understandably distracted Marnus, causing him to bow out. The visuals made for great entertianment and Twitterati was quick to grasp on to the same.
