As a professional athlete, it is important to convert difficult chances into gettable ones to make an impact in the game. Although Naseem Shah did possess the intent, he failed to grab the ball and ended up gifting a six to South Africa on the fourth day of the first Test in Centurion.

Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram, the overnight batters were cautious at the start after a thunderstorm at midnight at the SuperSport Park. The ball kept low at times with docile seam movement but the right-handed duo opted for solid technique to deny an early wicket and keep the scoreboard ticking. Right before the Drinks Break, the South African captain tried to switch gear but the shot didn’t come off well, albeit Naseem Shah gifted him a six with sloppy fielding.

Following three dots in the 20th over, Naseem Shah dragged the length short into Bavuma’s body. However, the Protea reached a good position on the back foot and pulled it over the deep backward square leg region. The timing wasn’t accurate and the ball swirled towards Naseem at the edge of the circle who managed to get a hand to the ball and lob it in the air before landing outside the ropes. In the process, the youngster stepped on the boundary ropes and the umpire signaled a six after TV umpire intervention. Pakistan is known for their poor fielding standards and Naseem’s sloppy work was just an example to cite, prompting the Twitterverse into murmurs.
